A curiosity that
became a direction.
Christopher Horne · Student meteorologist · UNC Charlotte
It started with a snow day.
I’ve been fascinated by weather since fifth grade, when nine inches of snow fell on my birthday in Charlotte. Since then, I’ve seen a tornado and experienced hurricanes at the beach, including Hurricane Matthew.
Seeing how severe weather affected my family gave that interest a purpose: helping people understand what is happening, what remains uncertain, and what they can do to prepare.
Science with people in mind.
I’m pursuing a B.S. in Meteorology with a minor in Mathematics at UNC Charlotte, with an expected graduation in spring 2028. My interests span operational forecasting, weather intelligence, risk management, and public communication.
Through CH Weather, I’m developing a place to explain Carolina weather in everyday language while keeping the science and uncertainty clear.
Beyond the classroom.
I enjoy storm chasing, photography, and music. I’d love to connect with others who share those interests. My more than four years at Chick-fil-A, including work as a team leader, have also shaped how I communicate and work with people.
